Assemble The Empire

Assemble The Empire are a five-piece progressive rock/post hardcore band from Melbourne Australia. In the short time that they have been together, they have begun to receive a rapidly growing fan base and have had heaps of playing time in venues around Melbourne and now Australia. Assemble The Empire’s self-titled EP, is a tremendous display of their musical talent , and vocal ability. Matthew Tan’s singing is very vast and has a distinct Australian tinge to it, which I find really cool. Assemble The Empire have a tremendous live show, which has been one of the reasons for their success, and by bringing elements of their live show into their EP they have managed to bring us a great record. Assemble The Empire are on a steady rise in the Australian music scene, following in Closure In Moscow and City Escape’s footsteps while still bringing us something fresh and new.

Here is a taste for you.

Aufgang

Aufgang

2 Grand Pianos + 1 Drumkit + A Whole Lotta Cool Effects = Aufgang. This truly talented group of musicians from France have really captured me this week, and I am finding their music very relaxing in time of study. This is not your everyday music, the two pianists aren’t just two guys on pianos, they are musical virtuosos. For you adventurous types make sure u “check out” Aufgang.

Yves Klein Blue

Yves Klein Blue

Brisbane boys Yves Klein Blue are one of the most interesting indie/rock outfits to emerge out of Australia in the last couple of years and are exciting fans with their intriguing songs and energetic live shows. Their name is taken from the colour ‘International Klein Blue (IKB)’ which was created by the French artist Yves Klein. The guys have said that they chose this name because the colour of ‘IKB’ looks exactly the same when it is either dry or wet, which gives it a “timeless quality”, so much like Led Zeppelin & others, they aspire to make music of the same lasting quality, (which I think is very cool). Yves Klein Blue have a very original sound, with songs like “Getting Wise” & “Polka” showing the diverse nature of their music. So now, you have to “Make Up Your Mind”, should you “check ’em out” or not?

……yes

P.S. “Make Up Your Mind” is one of their songs, see what I did their 😛

Animal Collective is a band based in New York but who are originally from Baltimore, Maryland. Their genre is classified as neo-psychedelia or psychedelic pop and their modern-masterpiece “Merriweather Post Pavilion” is a breath of fresh air in today’s music industry. The moving electronic sounds flow through your speakers and into your ears forcing you to feel as though you are drifting weightlessly through space. Animal Collective’s music and brilliant overall sound can be seen as the pop music of the future. “Check (them) Out”.

Lost Valentinos

Lost Valentinos
Lost Valentinos

Lost Valentinos are a psychadelic indie rock band from Sydney, Australia, who have established themselves as one of the most promising upcoming Australian bands this year. Lost Valentinos have been described by NME as “A skittering shitstorm of punk fury, disco beats and psychedelic excursions, the sonic invention of M83, Can and My Bloody Valentine melding with the panty-poking fun of Wham!, The Pixies and The Human League”. Their debut album “Cities Of Gold” has been labelled as “Conquistadisco” by the band, due to the mixture of electro rock with South American grooves. You should be hearing alot more from these guys and they should be in your list of bands to “Check Out”.

Between The Buried & Me

Between The Buried & Me

Between The Buried & Me are a five-piece Progressive Metal band form North Carolina, USA,  and are some of the most talented musicians of the 21st century. Their tremendous array of musical elements and styles come together into some of the most interesting albums ever, and their newest album “The Great Misdirect” doesn’t let that statement down. “The Great Misdirect” is the truly “enthralling adventure” of a group of outsiders trying to understand the strange worlds around them. The mixture of intense metal breakdowns, thrilling guitar riffs, out of place “honky-tonk” piano and a vast  range of ethnic sounds all contribute to a tremendous follow up to their critically acclaimed album “Colors”. You show me a better metal band and I’ll show you a LIAR. Be sure to “check (them) out”.
